Rumor has it that this will be the last weekend of live music at the Hub. If so they are going out in style with the Malcolm Clark band playing Saturday night. Malcolm is the reason I started going out to hear live music, and I thank him every time I see him.
The Malcolm Clark Band is blues - not your ordinary blues. A little funk, a little latin, a little schmooze - it's all there. Malcolm is a southern boy - South Tacoma to be exact. He actually started on the accordion and He still brings it out occasionally for a zydeco feel. He played trumpet at school in the 70's before focusing on the guitar. And we are so glad he did.
Malcolm has said that writing lyrics is like exposing your soul, and his songs can be deeply personal and beautiful. He tells a great story in his lyrics and his patter between songs.
Malcolm has many talented friends who stop by and jam. Go to the Hub, and when you hear "Baby Likes to Rock" with solos from the band, I'll be the one cheering 'cause that's my favorite song of all.
