One of my favorite bands will be playing at Doyle's this Saturday night. 9 Pound Hammer - a trio of great guys & talented musicians - will put a smile on your face and get your toes tapping with their mix of covers & originals.
Dustin Lafferty, the tall frontman, gets inspiration from unusual sources - his daughters whining, a friend constantly on Myspace, Sluggo Music, mustaches - and creates clever, memorable songs. Todd Arrighi, the man with the harp and the hair, gives the best hugs in Tacoma. He also has one of the best untrained voices you will ever hear. When Todd sings a song it becomes his own. Wait until you hear him perform "Walking in Memphis." Jake Garrido is the Chamorro on the drums. His history in music is diverse - including strippers, a large country music band and funk. I appreciate his respect for the music. Most drummers play as loud as they can. Jake strives to enhance a song, not dominate.
These three love being on stage and you will love being a part of their audience.
