BASS PLAYER NEEDED to join MISTER BLACKWATCH, an eclectic, acoustic performance band to play cool, OCCASIONAL, SELECTED art gallery/happening/hip-corporate/private/venue-specific gigs. Electric bass and/or stand-up. (Stand-up would be GREAT. Whatever, though.) Sense of humor: Vital. VOCALS: A big plus. Roughly half original/ half cover, presently. What we do is difficult to describe... We are: Doug Mackey. Acoustic guitar/voice, primary songwriter, drums, etc. Joe Wood. Drums/percussion, voice, songwriter/guitar, etc. Doug's background includes professional theatrical/improvisational experience, which-- combined with Joe's media/computer skills--result in interactive, multi-media, participatory occasions: Simultaneously absurd and profound. A little wrong, but in just the right way. Our covers all over the board. Cole Porter. Syd Barrett. Tom Jones. Goldfrapp. Jim GD Croce, for the love of Pete! Hot Chocolate? Working on it. Most of our originals (contributions are welcome) reflect, as one might expect, our musical loves: But those are many. The Beatles, The Who, Radiohead, Zep, and Pink Floyd are evident. As are James Brown, Miles, Eno, Ravel... (Oh, we're in our forties, but please don't be put off one way or another. We don't care if you're 17 or 70. Feel and humor are what we need.) The music is largely constructed more like films than textbook VVcVVcBVCC--. Dynamics are important. The songs aim to engage and deliver musical/dramatic...consumation, if you will. Alright, then. Here's a couple vids on YouTube. Both upbeat. Elvis and an original called Orange. Most Originals are heavier... http://www.youtube.com/user/MisterBlackwatch If you have something we could hear/see, please post link in response. We typically reserve at least one day a week for practice. Tuesday or Wednesday. There is room for deviation to some degree, but Tue./Wed. afternoon or evening is the thing presently. If there's a performance scheduled, then we ramp it up. We're not your average bear, but if this sounds intriguing, please contact us: doug@moonyard.com. Location: Tacoma (UPS area) it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests ... Read More »
